This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are twenty-one brilliant scholars attending a high-poverty, Title I elementary school. We are eager to learn and we crave the stability and routine of a healthy school environment. We are engaged in our learning and are striving to become life-long learners.
We come from many diverse backgrounds and cultures and each of us brings a unique and important perspective to our classroom.
We treasure our friendships in teamwork and work hard to build on many important social skills that will help us as we will build relationships in the future.
My Project
My students needs a variety of writing journals to explore writing and illustrating as early learners and to develop a love for writing. These various journals will help us see writing as a progression of skills and will help meet our individual needs for writing. We need My First Journals to explore writing as drawing a picture and writing a word to label the picture.
We need My First Draw and Write Journals to explore writing as written words and pictures.
We will use these journals to write one sentence and draw a picture to go with it. We need Draw and Write Journals for writing related sentences and stories and illustrating a picture to match. A variety of writing journals will allow for all early learners to write at their skill level and will provide scaffolding to help student's become the best writers they can be!
