Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from very low socioeconomic backgrounds and school is a safe, fun place for them to come. Many of them also come from different cultural backgrounds and many of them are English Language Learners.
My students love to learn and come to school every day excited about what we will do each day.
They are very creative and love to think out loud about what we are learning. They love it when we are working together and are willing to work hard.
My Project
My students love to write in "their" books every day. It gives them a sense of ownership and something to show for their school year. Every year I have my students create an interactive notebook for almost every subject.
I feel that when my students create while they learn helps them remember the skills that I am teaching.
They will use the different spiral books and composition books to create interactive notebooks for math, language arts, spelling, science, and social studies. My students create binders that hold their work and contain different charts and sheets to help them with different activities with reading and math. They also need a primary journal where they can write a short story every day to help increase their writing skills. These items are very important to the success of my students' year in 2nd grade.
