The students that I have the opportunity to teach and facilitate are very highly motivated youngsters with an appetite for science experiments and hands on activities.
My school is centrally located in New York City.
The majority of my students are eligible for free lunch. Their cultures and backgrounds vary from community residents to English language learners to victims of domestic violence.
My students are growing up in a competitive world - where if they are willing to go the extra mile, discover new paths, and realize that failure is not an option - part of their successes - will be to learn to play and work well with others as well as that making a strong effort will give them a head start on the paths of their success story.
My Project
The requested items will provide students some inspiration with which to work so that they can grow.
These supplies will enable students to write about the body parts of animals and compare them with other animals.
Fourth grade students can draw pictures and keep a nice journal of what they are learning from the ecosystem to magnetism and electricity.
Kindergarten students will draw their observations of trees throughout the seasons.
1st graders will learn that not all animals use their noses for smelling but for different other survival reasons.
2nd graders will be able to draw about the earth and its particles.
3rd graders will learn and illustrate matter and its properties.
Moreover, all of the students will be able to draw and write about their observations and hands - on activities.
Now the students will have ownership of their learning.
They will become successful on their science examinations and well on the way to becoming productive citizens.
