Writing In The First Grade With Supportive Paper And Pencils

My students need supportive writing paper and pencils for their daily writing.

I teach 21 first graders in a Northern Californian public school that is full of diversity. Our school is also an inclusive school. Every class has children with special needs.

My first graders are amazing writers. We write every day. They write about their lives. It is amazing to see their skills grow and their stories develop. The only problem is that it is so hard for them to print the letters when the paper is not helpful. We also have a problem with pencils. My district is not giving us money for supplies. Budget cuts are making it hard to get the basics.

I found the most amazing writing paper. It is called smart start paper. It is colorful with a blue line on top for the sky, a dashed red line in the middle called the fence, and a green line on the bottom for the grass. I will be able to teach that we start at the sky and go down to the ground. This visual aid will really help them form their letters correctly. They could write on this paper daily and create amazing stories. I also love to let the children use triangular pencils. They really help support proper pencil grip. We need this supportive paper and pencils to make writing easier for these children.

Your donation of this very special paper and pencils to our first graders will really help them become better writers. Thank you for reading my project and considering giving to our classroom.
