I have 24 energetic Kindergartners who are ages 5-6. They are a very culturally diverse group from many different backgrounds and learning experiences. I have students with disabilities and special needs as well as English learners. Many of my students have never attended preschool. I teach in an economically disadvantaged school district where funding is a challenge. The students are enjoying their first year in school and excited about learning.
Teaching Kindergarten is wonderful and exciting because they are so eager to learn.
I enjoy teaching Kindergarten because it allows me to think outside of the box and be creative. I love to see them grow and progress during the year.
Our classroom resources and supplies have been severely reduced due to reduced funding. Your generosity supports student learning and success.
My Project
This year we are focusing on writing. Writing in Kindergarten starts with storytelling through pictures and drawings. My students have learned the letters and their sounds so now they are beginning to add words and sentences to their drawings. They need journals with more space to add sentences.
With the journals and writing supplies, my students are excited to tell their stories and inspired to write!
Students draw and write with more depth and detail because they are proud of their work in their journals. The writing journals lets students express their creativity and tell stories with the drawing and lined writing space. The colorful drawing materials are created for small hands to encourage their masterpieces.
