I am a reading interventionist that works closely with students struggling in the area of literacy. I have students that I assess and diagnose with dyslexia and work with other professionals at my school to determine special education eligibility as well. My children are identified as students that are struggling in literacy. My goal is to bring the hardest part of their academics to life! I work very hard to untangle the mystery of letter-sound correspondence and empower my students with the knowledge that they can do this! We have a motto in our room, " I can't do that, YET!" It is important for me that my students know that they will read and write in their timing.
My Project
Handwriting is the foundation of literacy. Many students require extra reinforcement in being able to have legible handwriting. Having magnetic lined posters will help me to teach proper letter formation. Often times, I work in small groups and move to different areas of the room. Having the magnetic board will help me in teaching my students on the go! The lined stamp will aid my students in creating letter formation boundaries when working on unlined papers. Handwriting is an art, and it must have explicit instruction. These tools will help me to help my students with the lifelong skill of writing.
