Writing Easel at the Students' Level to Encourage Engagement!
Help me give my students the opportunity to have a shared teaching space where they can also reach to write and add to our classroom conversations through their writing!
In our classroom, all our students know each other's names, get along really well, and are always looking out for each other, eager to jump in and help whether in the class or on the recess field. Even though over half of the kids come from low-income homes, they come in eager and ready to learn. Math is their favorite in the afternoons, as well as some good story times.
Our first grade class is full of bright, excited, amazing, little learners with big ideas and huge hearts.
My Project
The physical classroom that we are in was originally designed for upper grades years ago. Now, I am doing all I can with what I have to make the higher whiteboards and higher interactive boards reachable (literally) and attainable for the students to be interactive and engaged with. We are focusing a lot on writing, that helps solidify the phonics and reading work that we are doing, to give the students a strong literacy foundation for life.
By having a white board Writing Easel that the students can reach and interact with, their writing will be able to be displayed and encouraged.
It can also double as our Word Wall (through our hanging charts that we have and rings that are included) which is very helpful since the physical classroom is small and I try hard to not have the room feel cramped and overwhelming, but open with an encouraging learning environment for all.
