I know that I learn best through hands on activities and being able to both see, touch, and manipulate objects. I am finding that many of my students need additional support in writing and letter recognition and that many of my students also learn kinesthetically.
My Kindergarten class is considered an intervention class for those Kindergartners who need additional support.
They come to my class to get an extra dose of Kindergarten to help them succeed in their education.
I have been finding that many of these students need hands on activities to solidify the material I am teaching. I have found many lessons and activities that use stamps and magnetic letters, however I do not have these materials as I am a new teacher.
My Project
My students are those who need additional support then what they are getting in their regular class. This means reteaching in a different way then they normally get. We do a lot of hands on activities to support all of the kinesthetic students in class and give them that extra support. However, as a first year teacher in a new classroom, I do not have many resources that would be both fun and beneficial to my students.
In my class, students would use these materials at both the teaching table, where they would be guided, and their learning centers, where they could work independently.
I believe that kindergarten should be fun and exciting for my students.
I feel that incorporating more hands on writing supplies such as letter stamps and magnets would create fun learning centers as well as provide a extra learning opportunity for all of those kinesthetic learners!
