Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of my students are experiencing school for the first time, and they are so excited to learn! Many of my students are Spanish speaking, living in a low-income neighborhood, and the majority of my students are receiving free meals during the school day.
Making school a fun place to learn is so important because kindergarten is the foundational year of their education.
My classroom provides the consistency and support my students need. I want to utilize all of the technology and educational resources that I can to give my students real life, hands-on experiences to make their learning meaningful. I am setting my students up for success!
My Project
The kindergarten curriculum is ever changing and the expectations are higher than ever. Many of my students enter the classroom with little to no previous school experience. In just 9 short months I am teaching them many important, life skills from something as small as identifying the letters of the alphabet to reading and writing independently. We work hard each and every day to make our brains strong and we need some fun materials to keep school exciting.
These scented markers and crayons, gel pens, and specialty papers will make each and every child in my class eager to write!
I have my own set of Mr. Sketch markers that I use to comment on student work.
My kids cannot get enough of the scented markers! I can only imagine their excitement if we received a class set of scented markers for everyone to use! The scented crayons, gel pens, and markers will give my students a large variety of drawing and writing options. The specialty papers will make my students excited to write...who want to write on plain white paper when there are fun papers available?
My students visit our writing center daily to work on drawings, labeling, and writing sentences. Having these wonderful supplies in my writing center for my students to use will certainly entice every student to be creative! I cannot wait to see the amazing work my students will produce.
