Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a inner-city low socio- economic community I am always working to ensure that my students have the same and best opportunities like any other student in the world. This is a bilingual (Spanish-English) first grade classroom with half of the students just arriving from Spanish speaking countries to the USA. My primary goal is to be able to develop all the necessary skills and environment to help them, learn the language and be successful in the regular academic curriculum. I will love to be able to provide in my classroom the environment and the opportunities that many of them do not have at home. With the assistance of many great donors, I am sure that together we can accomplish these and many other important goals.
My Project
Through the use of dry erase markers and some small white boards that we already have in our room, students will be able to have an area where they can practice their writing in both English and Spanish. In addition to that when we are practicing the math facts or any other section of math, this will give us the flexibility to work in both small and large groups. Now that we are starting to understand the new language (English), our students need as much practice and exposure as they can. Our bilingual students require to read and write as often as possible.
