Starting a new school year is always an exciting experience. For me, it's a truly special year as I start with a new grade level at a new school!
Wisdom, respect, gratitude, self-control, perseverance, courage, encouragement, compassion, integrity - nine moral focus values that lead my scholars and myself in our daily activity.
While I have only worked at this new campus for a few weeks, I can truly see how these values are integrated into the daily experience of every member of this school community. My heart is warmed as I hear stories of how scholars, family members, staff, and admin have lived these out.
With each new year, the needs of my students vary greatly. With the 2018-2019 school year being not only a new group of students, but a new grade level, our needs going from last year to this are even greater. I know our classroom family has the spirit and drive to move forward and make this year truly amazing, but we need the concrete tools to make it reality.
My Project
Historically, school isn't always the most "fun" place to be. I'm determined to change that! In my classroom, our learning is creative and colorful so that all content - math, reading, grammar, and writing is engaging 100% of the time. The materials that I am requesting will directly benefit the learning, and most specifically, the writing abilities, of all of my scholars.
All students deserve to have access to the basic supplies that support their education, but let's make it even more exciting than that!
Reading, writing, and arithmetic - the core subjects around which all learning is centered. As the writing teacher for all of the fourth grade scholars at our school, I am responsible for growing lifelong writers with strong literary skills that will carry them through middle and high school, into college, and eventually to their careers. Everyone uses writing skills every single day, but just because this is a daily skill does not mean we should allow it to be monotonous in its practice. I am focused on making writing fun by using creative and colorful books for our daily grammar practice, decorative pens and pencils as our "publishing pens," and tools for the Cricut machine to publish visually stunning final drafts. Whever a student is in the writing process, they will use one of our writing utensils to take the "classroom basic" to the classroom extraordinary! make it just a bit extra special. Overall, all of these items will improve my scholars' abilities to learn and grow!
