Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious, playful, energetic, and excited; yet, they are nervous about the eighth grade and doing well academically so they can get admitted into a selective enrollment high school.
Because many of my kids have had a sibling with me before, they know my expectations for them.
They do their best to give one hundred percent academically. However, sometimes it is hard when they have responsibilities at home, like taking care of younger siblings or cooking the meals, while parents are working.
My Project
My students enjoy being read to but not having a variety of mentor texts at home (teacher home) has been difficult since we can not re-enter our school building. Help me by providing me Writing about Reading mentor texts to go along with those lessons so I can continue teaching my kids the importance of Writing and Reading and how they go hand-in-hand. Everyone loves being read to, and my beautiful 8th graders are no exception. Help me continue that momentum for the Love of reading and writing especially during this pandemic.
