Ms. Alexander from Cedar Hill TX is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these supplies for their Writing Workshop which includes learning to write complete sentences, letters, and grammar. They will need these items for projects throughout the year, and to have their tools and charts.

My scholars are happy and eager to learn, but come from a situation where they do not have many tools to help me them grow & learn to their fullest ability. The area we are in a very low-income area (at or below poverty), and I feel they should not have to suffer or be held back because they cannot have the tools they need to grow & learn. As a new teacher, a mother myself, and passion to full-fill what I have been called to do, I do my best but sadly it is not enough because of funding & finances.
Despite the lack of these materials, tools, & resources these scholars still keep a positive attitude & does not give up.
They come to our school everyday smiling, happy, focused, & are driven to do their best everyday!
They are avid book fans & are engaged tremendously with learning to read books! They love doing projects where they can physically do something, be out of their chairs, making messing, & seeing their dreams & visions come to life. They are a family and team & SUPPORT their scholar-mates everyday! I feel truly blessed to have for them!
Writers Workshop is a huge and crucial subject of learning for the scholars because it contains a lot of details they must learn so as teachers we must find ways to make it fun and exciting and keep them engaged. These materials will keep the scholars engaged during our Writers Workshop time every day, and provide them the materials they need to be the best writers they can be! During Writers Workshop every day they will have the colored paper, sentence strips, dry erase markers with boards, and other choices to practice their writing sentences, creating stories, and arts and craft projects to catch their attention and make writing fun! We have several activities that we will be doing everyday in Daily 5 where they will need dry erase markers, colored paper, and sentence strips to practice their writing lessons.
