My students need writing journals designed specifically for their age group and fresh crayons so they can express their brilliant ideas as well as illustrate them beautifully!
As a first grade teacher at the school I myself attended, I strive to give my students an incredible first grade experience! My first graders are eager to shine and love to access the curriculum in creative and imaginative ways. I love giving them hands on, memorable experiences that allow their personalities and interests to shine through. I believe in giving them freedom to express their ideas and opinions, and to share their knowledge and curiosities with each other in a loving learning environment.
My Project
Although journals and crayons are seemingly simple materials to request, they open up a world of possibilities for the students. First graders love to express their ideas and be the authors and illustrators of their own stories. These journals allow them to do both. There is writing space with lines to guide them as they continue to develop fine motor skills, and there is space on each page for them to enhance their writing through illustration. The crayons are an exciting writing tool for them that are often used so frequently they need to be replaced. I’d love to be able to provide my first graders with these materials to get them excited and ready to become authors and illustrators!
