My students need a workspace to meet and conduct writing workshops. This table will allow us to have a space to share, read, revise, and edit our writing in a small group setting or individually.
'The adventure of life is to learn. The purpose of life is to grow. The nature of life is to change. The challenge of life is to overcome...' - William Arthur Ward. To learn eagerly, grow, challenge and change we must be given materials that excite and interest us.
They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners.
They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers... They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, but all come with a great desire and eagerness to learn. We live in a small, rural community, about an hour south of Kansas City, with a high poverty rate. Resources are limited. The free or reduced lunch rate is near 80%.
My Project
This table will allow students to share, read, revise, and edit their essays in a small group setting in which they can immediately receive academic feedback from both their peers and/or their teacher. In addition, the storage will help to keep writing materials organized.
Though we are in a digital age, human communication is still necessary and valued in my classroom and at Adrian R-3.
Peers and teachers might write numerous comments on drafts in an attempt to share academic feedback, but much of the time these comments need further explanation.
This table would allow students to meet in a small group and receive feedback from one another and/or their teacher. Other students might be in various other phases of their writing, and this workspace would allow me to provide differentiation and individual attention for each student.
