My students need pencils, erasers, a sharpener, a class set of composition books and notebooks, plus folders for our writing workshop classroom. They need mentor texts to help inspire them.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
School supplies are not on the necessity list of my students. Most of them struggle to have food and proper clothing for school. In our Title I school many of the families are unable to supply their students with the much needed supplies to be successful students.
My students attend a neighborhood Title I school with the majority of the students being below the poverty level and on free and reduced lunches.
Most do not have the family support that it takes to be a successful student. They are hard workers and I know that these resources will energize the classroom and they will appreciate all the new tools that they will be using.
My Project
A writers workshop is a learning resource that will allow my students to cultivate a love for writing. The resources that I am requesting are basic but are very much needed. My students need something to make writing new and exciting for them. Your help will allow me to bring some new energy into my classroom. I have requested pencils, erasers, notebooks, folders, pencil sharpener, and dry erase boards because these materials are greatly needed in order for my students to learn the love of writing. In addition, I have also requested mentor texts that will help "spark" their imagination and provide great examples to my students.
Your donation will make a huge difference in these third graders.
Many of them do not have the life experiences to write about things like the beach or the zoo. Imagine that? Never going to a beach. Never going to the zoo. These resources will go to children in real need.
