My Students
If I could describe my classroom in six words, they would be important, authentic, rigorous, supportive, and engaging. I have students say, “I wish I could stay in your class all year long." They have inspired me to want to go beyond. Students in my class have ownership of their own learning and a lot of what goes on happens organically with love for each other. Because of the passion I have for my students/family and my strong desire to share it with the kids, my class is definitely engaging and full of life. Hearing my students say that a character looks like them is the most inspirational thing to me. Self to text connection is a very powerful thing and is one way I can empower my students.
My Project
This donation will allow my leaders of tomorrow to use different writing materials in writing workshop. Providing my learners with flair pens during writing I believe can empower their writing skills. These pens are perfect for beginning writers because the felt tip has some drag to it that a ball point pen does not have. This helps beginning writers use fine motor skills as they learn how to write letters and words on their paper. Additionally, I am requesting a variety of colors. Each day students will get to write with a different color pen. This helps them see how much writing they complete in a day, how much they go back to add on, and aids them in setting future goals for their writing.
