I teach 22 wonderful fifth grade students. My students are very excited about learning. They love to learn new things and practice new skills. All of my students works so hard at everything they do. I am very proud of all of them.
Writing effectively is an obstacle my students face. Delivering writing instruction in a meaningful and exciting way is an obstacle I face as a teacher. I am a first year teacher and my personal supplies are very limited. My school has provided all of my students with an English text and a teacher text for myself. I often struggle with having just that resource. I would really like more resources to offer them several different opportunities and strategies in learning to write. I want them all to become wonderful, effective writers.
I really need more resources. I would like to have grammar and writing games for them to play to help make the writing process fun and exciting for them. My students also need ways to practice new skills. Having editing practice books and a writing standards activity series would certainly help. A daily language station would be a great way to help them warm up to the process by giving them a small achievable activity every day. Take it to your seat writing centers, revising your writing stations, and the Be A Poet! Writing Station would make writing a lot of fun for them.
I know that all of my students have the potential to become excellent writers. I believe in them. It is so important to me that I give them every tool I can in order for them to be successful.
