Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I, an inner-city public school in California. My class consists of Latino and Asian English Language Learners who hold a high potential for academic success. Each and every day is a great adventure with my students. They make no excuses to work hard and learn no matter how challenging things may become.
My first graders are highly encouraged to be respectful, responsible, and scholarly as they prepare to be college-bound.
Our school community values every student, and we do our best to prepare them for their future. We want them to know that they are part of a great learning community that will encourage and support them to dream big.
My Project
Writing is so important at any stage of the writing process. My little first graders are eager little writers, but they need additional support in their penmanship. I am requesting lined newsprint paper so I may teach mini-lessons on correct penmanship for those that still need it and work with the rest on the writing process. I am also requesting these great erasers that do an amazing job erasing all unwanted pencil marks.
If I want my kiddos to excel in writing, I have to provide them with not only the right lesson but with the right tools.
