Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of teaching in second grade. My students are very special to me for several reasons. They come from very diverse backgrounds. Some live in poverty, some have learning disabilities, and some have social and emotional needs, but whatever their background is, I try to give everyone the supports they need to be successful in their learning. We learn from each other on a daily basis.
My students are always curious and are hands-on learners.
They learn best when given these opportunities!
My Project
I am moving from second grade to first grade next school year. I teach 90% in Spanish and 10% in English. Therefore, I am trying to prepare my literacy centers with variety Spanish and English learning activities. My plan is to expose my students to hands-on activities during small groups.

My purpose is to have my students writing sentences during small groups using the sentence stripes, Spanish/English sentences activity and variety of books. The magic and touch board, word tubs, and Spanish folder games will be utilized during small groups while they are working on word work.
Writing is essential in first grade because it is used in many areas in our lives. Also, writing is critical to becoming a good reader. My students will engage their minds and widen their imaginations. It also prepares them for the future.
