My students love to read and write! They get so excited when we read stories and have writing time. First grade is all about reading and writing, and I will do whatever it takes to help my kids love these crucial skills as much as I love teaching them!
Our school is a low-income neighborhood school.
We qualify for a 100% free lunch program, in fact. Often the only practice they get in academics is what we do here at school. Therefore, it is crucial I make the most of our time in a meaningful, productive and fun way!
My Project
My first graders greatly look forward to our daily writer's workshop time to express their feeling and personal life events. They might not even realize how much they are learning academically, as they are having so much fun writing!
My students will most likely have many different feelings when they come back to school in the fall, depending on their past six months at home.
The writing journals and supplies I am requesting will help them express these feelings in a positive, happy manner. These supplies will encourage them to write more, since they will so enjoy using all of these special tools!
This project would allow me to teach my children all of our important first grade writing skills in a safe, exciting and supportive environment.
