Teacher Parchomenko from N Lauderdale FL is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need pencils, sharpeners, and dictionaries to help increase their vocabulary as we get ready for the dreaded FSA tests.

As a teacher in a high poverty/low-income school, our students struggle to meet the basic needs of every day life. At times, school is not a priority let alone school supplies. Yet we still have some of the most eager minds in our area show up everyday, ready and eager to learn. Our kids do their best with what they are given and I just want to try make sure they have the resources they need to be successful
We serve a population of 98% Free/Reduced lunch, high transiency and yet have the hungriest minds I have ever encountered, they just need the supplies to feed their hunger.
This drive that they have is exceptional. Over the past two years, learning gains have grown, proficiency has increased and attendance sky rocketed. Our students may not have been dealt the best hand in line to start, but myself, my colleagues and school are determined to make sure they have the skills and knowledge to make a better life for themselves.
As we move from the beginning of the school year into the mid-year prep we start getting ready for the dreaded FSA tests. These include a two day writing, two day math and two day reading examination. We will begin to write, write and write some more. Every day that means sharpened pencils, broken tips and the continuous whirl of the sharpener, oh the sounds of school.
As we get ready to give these tests our all, we will write, write and write some more!
Pencils, sharpeners and dictionaries are essential to helping my kids really give it their all on their writing and reading assessments.
