Help me give my students whiteboards, dry erase markers, erasers, and bright colored card stock to create engaging, interactive, and colorful science lessons.
My students are full of G.R.I.T.--gumption, resiliency, integrity and tenacity! My students are my family and I want them to be successful, in science and in life. It is my goal to inspire each student to become an independent, life long learner capable of critical thinking and great achievement. I want every student to realize that they can find success in what they do and that no achievement is small or insignificant.
Students love exploring, experimenting and engaging.
Many of my students are identified as having a learning disability, dyslexia, or other health impairments that have to be overcome in my classroom. New ways of building excitement in the classroom have to be introduced so that every student comes to school ready to learn.
My Project
Classrooms need to engage every student through opportunities to participate and interact with the content. In a classroom of 30 fifth graders it can be a struggle to provide every student the chance to respond in a discussion. A classroom set of white boards provide an opportunity for every student to respond to questions, participate in quick writes, create diagrams to explain scientific concepts and interact and collaborate with other students.
Dry erase boards also create opportunities in the classroom to conserve resources and avoid the monotony of the traditional worksheet.
Students can use whiteboards to record their answers to task cards, and discuss their responses with their peers. Bright colored card stock can be used to create classroom resources that are engaging and color-coded for easy organization. Different colors can be coordinated to create student groups, based on content or unit, and to create a brighter learning environment.
