Write, Share, Erase, Repeat

My students need dry erase boards for whole and small group learning times. Each student will be able to share their answer without shouting out.

My Students

Each morning we start our day with whole group learning. We get together on the carpet and create the calendar for the day. We also discuss patterns and number relationships. "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." -Benjamin Franklin

We are a class of 26 diverse, inquisitive 6 and 7 year olds.

We come to school excited to learn every day. We love finding new ways to express our ever growing knowledge. We are a school that values each of our students for their individual talents and makes every effort to provide any kind of support we can. Some of our students come to school not speaking or understanding the English language, some of our students have had limited exposure to technology, and some have never held a pencil. Students learn and discover their abilities in a non-threatening way when they are able to work together in a classroom community that supports each others growth.

My Project

The requested dry erase boards would save our classroom lots of paper. As a class, we would be able to use our dry erase boards to show answers during whole group carpet time or during small groups. We could use them during "Mystery Number" time. Students think of a number, give hints to their partner. The partner writes down a number and the student says higher or lower until the correct number is written down. We would also use it to practice number sentences. During word work time we could use the dry erase boards for sound recognition. Teacher says a word, students are asked to write beginning, middle, or ending sound. In small group work students that struggle with writing find it easier to write on dry erase boards vs pencil and paper.

Dry erase boards will allow ALL my students to answer questions and show their thinking.

As a teacher I will be able to easily see which students are struggling with a concept and which students understand the concept. Our classroom would enjoy having individual dry erase boards and be engaged in whatever learning activity we would be using them for. The possibilities are endless!
