Help me give my students the gift of posture and grasp. All of these products will promote the strengthening of muscles in specific ways to assist them with functional grasps and posture.
My students range in ability and learning style. I am an Occupational Therapist and most of my students are in special education. Some students I see through MTSS, which stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports. This is an important part of education because, through this system, we are able to see students and give them tools that will help them and create success with just one or two suggestions.
One small addition can make a huge difference in a person's success!
I am trying to create a lending library filled with tools that will help students across the board. Kids like to move and they should. Movement facilitates learning however can look like a distraction. For example, students may want to rock their chairs; however, this could be a potential fall or distraction. Instead, I could offer them a tool to help address both these things; a chair band can be placed on the chair as well as a seat wedge. A simple change and a huge impact, not students can place their feet on the bands and create pressure and they can move their bodies on the seat wedge without tipping their chairs back.

My Project
Many students are experiencing the "COVID slide." The goal is to supply tools that students can use consistently at home and at school. EVERY day they can incorporate enrichment into their daily routines in class is key. This way, the tools for strengthening and positioning for good grips and posture can happen automatically. Daily equipping students with what they need to learn and to practice skills without feeling like they're "working" creates healthy habits. These tools are helpful, comfortable, and fun as they can be incorporated into so many different activities in the classroom and at home. Happy writing!
