This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I neighborhood school, where all children receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of the children have had no preschool and this is the first time the children have been exposed to learning opportunities including learning alphabet skills, book and print awareness, reading opportunities and writing skills.
For many of the children, this is the first time they have held a pencil, used scissors and glue, and listened to stories being read.
The children come into the room eager to learn and embrace new experiences.
My Project
Children are typically told do not write on furniture, however, we can change this in class. This unique table, has a dry erase board top, for children to be able to practice all types of skills. Children will be able to write on the tabletop without getting into trouble. Writing skills of all types can be practiced in a fun exciting way for everyone to get involved with. Dry erase markers will be provided for the children to practice writing names, letters, numbers, and as time progresses, words and sentences. Children will be involved in writing in an exciting way of learning writing skills.
