My students need dry erase boards and file folders in order to write answers quickly and be more engaged in their learning. We are working hard to control the clutter and overload of paper.
My students are hard working and eager learners! Many of them come from single family homes, being raised by grandparents, or in foster care. Almost all of my students are on free or reduced lunch and school is the one constant in their little lives. My school is a Title 1 school that works hard to provide our students with the tools they need to be successful learners. Our parents and our students are appreciative of any support we give. Our goal is to meet the needs of ALL learners!
My Project
My students are always excited about any activity that we can do differently and make more fun! My students will be using the boards primarily for phonics instruction and math. They will benefit from being able to respond quickly to math problems and coding words in phonics. This is a quick and easy way for me to be able to check for understanding without the grind of paper and pencil. We can use the boards in almost any subject area. We can utilize the "Show Me" activity where students are given a problem and then must complete it on their whiteboard. The teacher will say, "show me" and be able to quickly check for understanding.
The boards will be a fun alternative to paper and pencil work.
The boards will also help us control the overload of paper copies we use on a daily basis.
The file folders will help us to become a more organized classroom. Students will practice the importance of completing their writing and then placing it in their folders to await the editing process with a teacher. This will allow the students to be more responsible for their work and reduce the clutter around our room.
