Every child has a story tell, especially in 1st and 2nd grade. I'd like my students to see themselves as writers and have the tools they need, to share the unlimited possiblities of their own imaginations.
We love turtles and my Turtle Team has the cutest 6 & 7 year olds you'll ever meet!
We are proud to live and learn in the Pacific Northwest. My class is a combination of first and second graders, and the writer's workshop model that we use allows me to blend a variety of writing levels. Their writing partners become their best positive critics and they learn how to celebrate each other's stories!
My Project
Picture little writers who have pencil tips that break or papers that tear from too much erasing. Their frustration turns writing into a chore, instead of a joy. It's a really big deal to use black flair "teacher pens" for writing and it lets them know that it's OK to goof-up or change things. We fix it with another color, not erasing. The felt tip pens help them to write more slowly and carefully, with better letter formation. Soon they're writing with their reader in mind and creativity takes over. They find SUCCESS!
Getting my little writers off to a great start by using our "special writing pens" will bring joy to our Writer's Workshop alll year long!
My primary writers will work with many different genre, like narrative writing, nonfiction chapters, science writing and poetry. The key to this project is that our energy will be put into their ideas, because we will have the tools they need! Thank you for choosing us.
