We have 49 students on our team of three teachers. We are so lucky to have our sixth grade 15:1 program as a part of our team. In our awesome bunch of students, we have many students who come from different backgrounds and learn in different ways. Our classroom includes special education students, students who receive Academic Intervention Services (AIS), general education students, and students from a variety of economic backgrounds.
We work hard to make sure our students are working in an engaging, fun, and safe environment that meets their own learning needs.
Our classroom focuses on providing authentic, hands-on learning opportunities that shape students into leaders of the future.
My Project
In my classroom we need an area for students to receive small group instruction. This project would provide students with a table they can write on while they receive more support. The expo markers can be used and easily cleaned off the whiteboard table. We can use this table in Social Studies, Math, Science and ELA small groups! For example, it will be beneficial for students to outline the steps while solving a problem using the order of operations. They can erase their work on the table and continue solving the problem.
The activity table would give one group supportive area to work, while breaking up the space to allow for a more intimate setting.
I hope we can fit myself, as well as six students at this table for daily small group instruction. Students can also use this table during group projects to brainstorm their ideas using the whiteboard top.
