We have many bright young minds who are excited about learning. I teach at a Title I school in the heart of Maine. The experiences that these students gain in elementary school will provide a strong foundation that they need for academic success in the years to follow.
We are getting ready to start a new year in second grade, improving our literacy and math skills and learning how to find answers to our questions.
After a beautiful Maine summer, we are all ready to get back to school and build new relationships with our school family.
My Project
The notebooks are designed with lines that correspond with our district-provided handwriting curriculum. The pencil pouches will allow us to take our learning up and away from desks. We have already been gifted some flexible seating options, so the pouches let students make sure they have the writing tools needed without endless trips to and from desks. Lastly, we are requesting 5 handsets (picture old-fashioned telephone receivers) for students to record themselves reading their own writing. Then, they can listen to the playback and hear errors that they might have missed, and work on craft to let their stories flow better.
Writing is one of the more difficult things that we work on in second grade since writing requires students to synthesize their learned skills and knowledge.
