Students love to write and read letters; however, our Mail Center is falling apart. Students love the Mail Center, but after 3 years, it needs to be replaced! The students have filled their "Teacher Talk" notebooks too and there is no place to write to Mrs. Hyder and allow her to respond! Help!
O.
is a school with approximately 600 children located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are on the State Department list of needy schools due to our free and reduced lunch numbers and children in need. Our school leads the State in inquiry and we maintain high scores in student growth yearly. I have a mixed group of very inquisitive, excited boys and girls who love learning.
My Project
The Writing Center is a daily center that students rotate to during morning Literacy Stations. Providing materials for them, helps level the playing field where everyone can participate and learn in a fun way. "Real Reading and Writing" is the kind of learning that is engaging for students and the kind that keeps them focused! They love to send mail to friends and read what is written back to them. After completing a graduate course of teacher communication with students for better assessment, I began "Teacher Talk" notebooks which allows. This allows my students to write to me and I write back! The problem with this data proven success type of learning is that it can be costly.
Donations to this project will help these youngsters become better readers and writers.
This has been proven in past years to keep them engaged all year long! Please help my project.
