This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach kindergarten in a Title 1 elementary school in NC. We have a large Hispanic population and majority of our students are from low-income families. Most have come into kindergarten not knowing their letters, let alone how to write or even hold a pencil correctly. Some never used a pencil before.
My students came this year unable to recognize letters or write anything more than circles and lines. Since the beginning of the year the students have been practicing copying words. They are improving but still struggle with forming the letters correctly. It is getting too time consuming to write everything for them so they can copy it or trace it.
These stamps will enable the students to stamp their own letters and words to trace without having to always wait for the teacher to get a moment! Teachers never have a spare moment. They will also be able to work on sight words as they write, read, and recognize them.
Your generous donation will help brighten their futures as they learn to write letters and words correctly. Research has shown that good handwriting, writing letters correctly, improves students' abilities to write sentences and even stories in the future. Please help them to one day write their story!
