Help me give my students a place to work it out. I have been updating classroom furniture and my students would love a dry erase table where they can work together to solve problems or sketch out ideas.
I am a teacher of a 3/4 split grade classroom in mid-Michigan. Our building is a Title I building with just over 50% qualifying for free or reduced cost lunches.
My students are very eager to help each other and love collaborating about their work.
Because we are a split classroom they get many chances to work together and help each other grow in our classroom. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!
While working my students have a number of seating choices to help them meet their physical needs while they work. They love to have many options for sitting and spaces to get their ideas out. Providing multiple ways to learn helps me meet the needs of my students where they are. They are a wonderful group of students who are truly thoughtful.
My Project
My students love to use dry erase boards daily for their classwork, sometimes their work is too large for these small boards. Adding a dry erase table will give my students another spot to show their thinking in math and science and allow for creative collaboration.
During math lessons, I often ask students to show their thinking, having a larger space to work will make this easier.
It will also allow students to collaborate on their work.
In science students are asked to create models to show their thinking. Often these don't need to be permanent and put on paper, so this will allow them a space to work where they can easily change their model as they work together.
