Help me give my students the reading intervention kits, writing portfolios and the additional items they need to be successful in Guided Reading and Writer's Workshop.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My new 5th grade scholars are eager to start Writer's Workshop and Guided Reading. Keeping writing portfolios creates a sense of purpose for student writing. They have a deep sense of pride when they add a piece of writing to their portfolio, knowing that it is their best work. It's also a place for them to keep their wonders, ideas and thoughts, pieces they're working on and guides to help them write. Scholars working on writing also need to work on their reading skills. The intervention kits will allow me to differentiate work for scholars. This will give them the practice they need at their level.
The donations to this project will help to improve my scholars' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing and support their skills.
By implementing the Writer's Workshop and Guided Reading models, my scholars will begin to see themselves as true authors. We will use these materials to help us in the process of becoming life-long writers and readers. I have done extensive research and reading on Writer's Workshop and Guided Reading in the intermediate grades. I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks you so much!
