Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a wonderful group of first graders. They are full of excitement for learning, no matter what their home life situations may be. They are always willing to help each other in the classroom.
I teach at a Title I elementary school, where 100% of the students receive free lunch in a largely ELL populated area.
Some students have parents that work all hours of the night. Therefore, the parents may struggle to assist their children with homework and learning. My first graders are hard workers, who seem eager to please.
My Project
My first graders learn something new every day. Sometimes, they may forget what they learned. As a class, we will be able to use the chart paper and easel to make anchor charts for newly learned concepts. Then, I can just take those anchor charts and just stick them to the wall. My students will have them for reference.
My students love to brainstorm ideas.
This usually happens during writing time. Usually, I write those ideas on the whiteboard. Sometimes, I end up erasing the whiteboard when we move on to something else. With the chart paper, I don't have to worry about losing all the great ideas that my students came up with.
