Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is full of energetic students ready to learn and come up with great ideas. Before each lesson we go over the objectives on the board so that students know what we are learning. With only one small whiteboard, it is hard list the objectives, the lesson, notes and homework assignments.

My students are bright and energetic with creative minds that continue to grow and expand.

We use the white board for almost every lesson. We take notes and students solve problems. We also project information onto the board. The board is very old and too small for the students to see the projections clearly. The board gives me free range to instruct my students, but it in its current condition it is hard to erase and re-explain if needed. It has become very difficult to erase and thus read the information written on the board, or the projections. Many of my students are English Language Learners and benefit from seeing visuals of vocabulary words, and concepts. Many of my students also benefit from not only hearing the directions and objectives, but also by reading them. A larger white board will enable the students to read and follow along throughout the lesson.

My Project

The students will use the whiteboard everyday in class. It will be used for them to look at examples of work and to help develop ideas in reading and writing. Students will use it to take notes and follow along with lessons. The white board will also help be share student work, through the use of magnets so work can be displayed quickly without the damage of tape. This white board will not only help the 50 students that I have for English Language Arts, but also the students who use the room in after school programs. A working board is important to any classroom. A functional whiteboard will allow my students to gain additional work time in class. The extra 3 minutes a day will add up quickly over the course of a week, a month, and the entire school year. My students will gain that time to focus on their work. A working whiteboard would be a dream to us all; please help make this dream a reality.

My students need a new white board so that they can not only write on it but erase the board as well.

The students need a place to read the objectives, see visuals and also practice their work. A new dry erase board and markers will enable students to take notes easily and also refer to information when needed. My students will be able to read and take notes from work that is projected and also watch video clips that will enhance their learning.
