I am a first grade teacher at a low income school. I love teaching and love doing hands-on activities with my students. My students love writing on the dry erase easel in my room. They write stories, do math problems, and draw pictures. When doing math, I try to avoid doing paper and pencil activities. I am constantly trying different ways to make learning fun and interesting. Yet, students do need practice with basic facts and other math and literacy skills. I am proposing to purchase a class set of magnetic dry erase boards and markers. My students would adore solving practice math problems on the dry erase boards. Since the boards are magnetic, they can also use magnetic numerals to solve problems. My students will use these in whole group lessons, working with a partner, or working with a volunteer. They can practice math facts, answer geometry questions, practice writing word problems...the possibilities are endless!!! The children will still be practicing math, but they will be doing it in a fun and interesting way. Thank you for your time and your investment in our future.
