The class I work in is a very diverse group of learners. They are diverse in their culture and also in their levels of reading and writing ability. They are very curious learners and love learning. They are very kind and helpful towards each other.
My students need to practice writing more to be better writers and readers!
We have Asian, Hispanic, African American, and Caucasian students. Some need that extra reading/writing encouragement because of language and some because of the lack of materials at home. It is up to us to lay the foundation for their future.
My Project
Reading and writing make a connection in language for students. A majority of our students are bilingual and lack the connection in reading and writing. Having writing boards would enable them to answer and practice writing in oral story retelling time. Also the writing letter cards would be good for the students needing alphabet recognition practice.
When you hear a sentence then write it and see it that connection is made in the brain.
This will create better readers and help students in the rest of school experiences. Reading and writing can take you to lots of places. Lets send these students traveling!
