Help me give my students the necessary material needed to practice fluency and application problems in class. The dry erase markers are very expensive and must be replaced regularly by the teacher.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is in an inner city community with a high poverty level. A majority of my students come to school with little to no supplies. My students also have a strong desire to learn and should not experience things that get in the way of their learning.
They are 2nd graders with a lot of energy and they worry about the future and they need to know that they are special.
All of the students in my second grade classes are special. Students need to have access to new technology in order to be prepare for future careers in engineering and science.
My Project
The dry erase markers and pocket charts will be used in math and science class. Students are given an opportunity work independently or small groups. The students put a sheet in each chart and the dry erase marker is used to write on the pocket chart that holds the paper. This allows me a opportunity to check for understanding without using paper, paper, and worksheet. The students enjoy writing on the pocket charts with markers because its something they normally don't do in other classes.
These items will be important to their learning because its a way to check for understanding and allows me to correct an mistakes quickly.
