Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright and passionate about learning. They persevere each and every day in the face of the struggles they have to go through on a daily basis. The community where I teach is very disadvantaged and students struggle to acquire everything they need. Many of my students are English language learners.
My students engage in a variety of language-based activities and to support such work, they need a lot of support.
The goal here is for them to have an opportunity to write more, and outside of the classrooms.
My Project
My students are learning how to be great writers, but how can they be great if they don't practice? These notebooks will be their take-home writing journals so they can practice writing their thoughts, feelings, responses to literature, and so on each night.
The more they write, the better they will get!
Students brought in a lot of school supplies at the beginning of the year, but in my community, parents really struggle sometimes to provide everything the kids need, so I don't want to ask them to buy yet another notebook for school. These notebooks will be an invaluable resource to get our students writing and learning.
