Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a Title I school in Memphis, Tennessee. These students come in all ages and ability levels. Wrestling teaches life more than any classroom would as there is no one to blame, but yourself. My student-athletes maintain high academics and work hard in athletics. This program is being built from the ground up. We maintain a 3.25 team GPA or higher every semester and have set school records in the last couple of years. We plan on breaking more as time goes on.

My Project

My students will use the equipment to get stronger, be more prepared and protect them from the walls. My students will go into competitions feeling more confident with the more complex practice with our equipment that we will be able to use in practice. This will also help our team in freestyle and greco practice in the offseason to become more highly recruited by competing in the offseason. These will also allow our wrestlers to teach younger wrestlers using the same equipment as our high school team. The wall padding is important so our student-athletes do not get hurt during practice.
