My students need hands-on experiences with dissecting frogs to learn about the systems of the body, and owl pellets to learn about ecosystems and the food chain.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students at my school are diverse in race, religion, and academic achievement. Many students are from bilingual homes or homes where English is rarely spoken. One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. Many are also involved in the backpack program which provides them with food on the weekends.
My students love to learn!
They love to be able to see, touch, and do activities that relate to the topic we are studying. With positive encouragement and proper supplies, they will achieve.
My Project
My students will be so engaged to be able to dissect frogs and owl pellets.
It will take learning to a whole new level!
This will be one year of fun they will never forget. I want my students to love to learn, to seek out knowledge, and to try new things.
Being able to dissect a frog to see its stomach and liver will make all that textbook learning come to life. They will have such a good understanding of how the body works they will never forget it.
Who knows, this simple activity may be enough to encourage them to go to college and become doctors and nurses.
