This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember how frustrating it was to learn how to read and write without visual aids? Well this is what my students are faced with on a daily basis.
My fourth grade students are bright and filled with limitless potential, but are plagued with the issues surrounding low socioeconomic households.
Most of them have not been exposed to diverse technologies. I see this as an opportunity to expand their knowledge of various technologies in order to enhance their academic skills.
My Project
The tablet will benefit my students as they work in small groups as they will be able to utilize reading and writing applications. This will help them to find out information about skills they have not yet mastered. The document camera is a great way to openly provide students with positive feedback. It is also a teaching tool that will help students who are having problems since it can be used as a self-monitoring tool. Both of these items will be used to bring the real world into our learning environment. I am looking forward to getting at least six more tablets so that each group will have this resource available to them.
My project is very important because my fourth grade students deserve every opportunity to learn and master the skills they need in order to help them become successful learners.
This will also help in the implementation of the new Common Core and prepare all students to be successful on the statewide reading and writing assessments.
