Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My class is a co-teach with Pre-K and Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD). We have about 26 students with 2 teachers and 1 aide. This program gives the students the opportunity to interact with both general education students and students with disabilities.

I teach is a Title I district where all students are served free breakfast, and many are served free lunch.

Despite this hardship, these outgoing, preschool students love to learn. We use hands-on activities as well as technology to keep them engaged. My goal each year is to make sure these students have every opportunity to be successful and are ready for Kindergarten.

My Project

The Kindle Fires with protective covers will be used daily in small groups to reinforce learning through the use of technology. Many students have tablets vs computers at home. Having tablets in the classroom will help student make connections to leaning while at school.

With these tablets students will be more engaged in the lessons which will lead to success.

There are apps that we can use to teach handwriting, letters and letter sounds, numbers, patterning, rhyming, and many other skills. Our campus has a focus on coding and computer science. Students will be able to do coding activities on these as well.
