WOW Committee is Dedicated to Keeping the School Looking Beautiful
Help me give my students the opportunity to continue practicing being respectful and responsible. One initiative that is extremely important to me is keeping the learning environment clean and conducive for learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My 7th and 8th English Language Arts students are respectful and responsible teenagers. Every day my students arrive to my classroom with a respectful spirit and positive heart. Studying English entails more than just scanning through a book and answering questions. My students practice respect in everything they do, since it is the backbone of everyday life just like reading and writing.
In addition to respect, my students are aware of the importance of being responsible not just at home but at school as well.
My students know that responsibility looks like being prompt, being on task, and being aware of the condition of our learning environment. I take pride in being able to instill these lesson in them in hope that they will continue to be respectful and responsible even after they leave the classroom.
My Project
One initiative that is extremely important to me is keeping the school environment clean and conducive for learning. The WOW committee was formed to ensure there is a dedicated team responsible for implementing new ideas to keep our school beautiful. Recently we have created a program where our students get to practice responsibility by tidying up classrooms and hallways. Disinfecting wipes will be used to wipe away germs from desk to prevent students from getting sick, which will positively effect attendance. The Lavender air freshener helps to provide a relaxing environment. It is our hope that this added responsibility will aid in making students more aware of how they treat their surroundings and the school building. We are also presenting this opportunity to students as a privilege and not a punishment to encourage participation and eagerness among students.
