Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Cleanliness and order are not matters of instinct; they are matters of education, and like most great things, you must cultivate a taste for them." ~ Benjamin Disraeli
Please help our students stay clean and neat.
PS 306 prides itself in having wonderful young scholars who come in on a daily basis seeking to learn and advance themselves in education. PS 306 is a community school in which 21% of the students in temporary housing are either in shelters, foster homes, or living with family/friends. More than 95% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and about 90% of the students come from low-income households. Although PS 306 does provide school apparel to students at no cost, some of our students affected by their housing status are unable to maintain the proper hygiene due to lack of resources. Please consider helping the counseling department obtain a washer/dryer set.
When a child comes to school with dirty clothing it may affect their self-esteem, social interactions and learning. Consequently, due to the pandemic, some of our Kindergarten and First Grade students are still in the process of being potty trained and adapting to the long school day. These students require frequent changes throughout the day or week. In addition, we would like to teach our 4th and 5th graders life skills, allowing them the opportunity to learn how to properly wash their clothes and allow them time to do so after school when needed.
With your help and generous donation, we will purchase a clothes washer and dryer set. We would like to provide students with a worry-free zone, this will enable them to thrive in all areas without the concern of their appearance and hygiene. On behalf of our students, families and school community we say Thank you!
