I teach at a Title 1 school in San Diego and have the opportunity of teaching a very diverse group of students. We have grown together, learned together, struggled together, persevered together, laughed together, and yes even cried together.
I want my students to know that I not only see their differences and needs, but understand and accept them as well.
We are constantly exploring different careers and passions to try and figure out what they love. Whether they choose college, trade school, the military, etc. I want them to be productive members of society on the path to gainful employment. There is so much out there for them and their paths are bright!
My Project
My students needs different areas where they can work and not be distracted by our the huge amount of students we have (34!). By giving them benches that convert to tables they will be able to work outside and by getting more beanbag filler we will be able to fill out beanbags and work on the floor.
We are also studying real world jobs this year!
Students are exploring what it means to be a theme park engineer, cosmetologist, reporter, climate change analyst, and even a dietitian. We need some supplies to organize and amp up our activities! The Knex will help us build our theme park, Jump ropes will give us a unit to plan as dietitians, and the microphones will help us become reporters along with the cameras on our Chromebooks. We can't wait to explore these jobs!
