Most of my students are from low-income families. They are busy bodies that continue to amaze me! Most of them love to show me their drawings of robots, sceneries, flowers. And animals they love, and notes with terms of endearment to express how much they appreciate me whenever they get their treats! These first graders are curious and creative! Once their minds are fixed into creating things, words will be coming out of their mouth. In order to put things into reality, they will draw and write things to express their ideas. They will come up with a vocabulary to describe what they want to build or what they want to create. Manipulation of letters and shapes will surely help them to come up with great projects!
My Project
The World of Words project will help my students who are from low-income families. The magnetic materials will be used to increase the students' ability to spell while they are describing their creations. The carpet will be placed in an area where students can create shapes, the reading materials will be read to gain fluency and increase reading comprehension, and the engineering kit will help them create tangible objects. There will be an area in my classroom for interactive learning. I would like my students to have a greater chance to enjoy STEM projects. I believe that if we allow them to showcase their creations, they will dream of becoming engineers, scientists, doctors, and teachers! Please help them to reach their dream.
