Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Children are not only performers of music, they are also composers of music! This project is their chance to use a tonal instrument to write their own songs. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated!
The students in our Multicultural Drum & Dance group are 4th to 7th graders that attend a public charter school serving a significant population of low socioeconomic households.
One of our school's goals is to develop excellence in fine and performing arts, and these kids have the potential for it. All they need is the instrument to create amazing world music of their own!
My Project
Percussive instruments are the foundation of all world music. Drums create the rhythm, but having a tonal instrument would allow the students to create tunes of their own. This is why I posted this project. Our hope is to get a xylophone so our students can compose original songs.
The xylophone is the perfect instrument for children to develop composition skills.
It's scale structure allows for natural creativity and song-writing. Please help our students pursue a love of music and an appreciation for other World cultures!
