My Students

My students represent a wide variety of backgrounds and demographics. This is due in part to our proximity to US Army Fort Rucker. My students love coming to music class and particularly enjoy playing percussion instruments. We believe at RBE that it is important to Respect, Believe (in), and Empower each and every one of our students. We aim to provide equitable learning experiences for all students. The music classroom is a fantastic opportunity to promote success in musical learning for all.

My Project

These high quality tubano drums are durable enough for kids to use for years while still providing an authentic hand drum feel. By capitalizing on the love for drumming and musicianship already existing in our school, I plan to promote life-long musical learners and provide a creative opportunity for all students.

We currently have a set of small hand drums that are hand-held.

These drums, while useful in some contexts, do not provide the stability that the larger tubano drums can afford. The requested tubano drums stand on their own on the ground and will be accessible for all students including students with motor skills delays and physical disabilities. They are easy to play and allow for students to gain feelings of immediate success as young musicians.
